Okay, I know I’m about a week late writing this but life seems to get in the way sometimes. Anyways, back to Spider-Man. I have to admit to feeling a bit jaded ever since the film was announced. I felt as though Spider-Man, Batman and Superman have just been done to death at this point. We as movie goers have proven that we are receptive to new characters, i.e. Guardians of the Galaxy, and so I felt that it was just completely unnecessary to reboot this franchise again.
I can honestly say that I have never been more wrong in my life. This movie was perfection from the recreations of iconic panels to the authentic feel of a Queens neighborhood. Tom Holland was a joy to behold as Spider-Man. I loved that he felt like a 15 year old kid. He was always almost giddy, and honestly who would’t be if Iron Man showed up to your door with a multi million dollar suit. This movie was also able to perfectly capture not only a discovery of self that Peter Parker goes through, but also his sacrifice.
The best bad guys, in my opinion, are the ones that you can sympathize with. Michael Keaton was that bad guy. A family man driven to extreme measures. I honestly can’t stop gushing about it.
The only flaw that I can think of, and I’ve been thinking this over for a few hours now, is the interactions between Tony Stark and Peter. Everyone that knows me, knows I hate Iron Man. I think he is a self serving jerk, and I really feel like that shows through in the film. I could have done with a little less Iron Man but as far as complaints go, it’s a pretty minuscule one.
If you haven’t already – GO SEE SPIDER-MAN!
